Booking with me for the first time? 

I can’t wait to meet you and help you reach your health goals in the safest way possible. I’ll look at all aspects of your life – health, medical, social, psychological, and environmental – to create the most effective and individualized treatment plan for you. Here’s what the process looks like: 

Step 1: Health Evaluation

First, you’ll complete an online health evaluation. The form may be a bit lengthy, but it will help me understand your past and current health state so that we can optimize our time together during appointments. 

Step 2: Preparing for Your Visit

Next, we’ll gather all your prior/available health records, tests, and blood work so that I have a clear picture of your medical history. This will also help us avoid any unnecessary re-testing. 

Step 3: Initial Visit/Consultation

Your first visit will include a comprehensive 60-minute health intake, which will help me create the best treatment plan for you. This visit may also include a physical exam, body composition analysis, or referral for further lab testing, or even a consult with an affiliate MD or NP.

Step 4: Follow-Up Visits

During your second visit, you’ll receive your personalized wellness plan. All further follow-up visits will be determined as needed. I recommend a minimum of five visits throughout the year, to ensure proper follow-up care.

Q: What exactly is a naturopathic doctor? 

Great question, as naturopathic doctors (NDs) are often confused with nutritionists, homeopaths, or energy workers. Naturopathic Medicine is a field distinct from these practices, and the difference lies in our training, scope of practice, and approach.

Naturopathic doctors undergo eight years of intensive training, including a four-year honours undergraduate degree in a Science field. Following completion of this degree, they must then complete an additional four years at an accredited Naturopathic Medical Institution, including a one-year residency program.

Q: What do naturopathic doctors study?

Naturopathic doctors study all of the core science courses, with the addition of the functional and integrative modalities, placing an emphasis on preventative medicine. Areas of study include Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Nutritional Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Botanical Medicine, Sports Medicine, Medical Nutrition, Manipulation/Chiropractic Adjustments, Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture, Supplementation, and Psychology & Counselling. 

Q: What makes your approach to healthcare different? 

Conventional methods might stop at “normal” blood results, telling patients they’re fine as is. But with integrated functional medicine, I want to get you to an “optimal” level (not just normal) so you can feel your absolute best and live your life to the fullest. I also dig deeper to understand WHY your health issues are happening in the first place, so we can properly address them. 

Q: What if I’m already taking prescriptions or have a family doctor?

My protocols work on their own or in conjunction with current medical interventions and medications. I also understand that prescriptions have their place and are sometimes needed. We’ll discuss the right balance, and I’ll work alongside you and your MD or engage a new MD, when necessary.

Q: What age are your patients?

I see women of all ages! Different stages of life come with unique health concerns, and I’ll meet you where you’re at. The most common request I hear from new patients is, “I just want to feel like myself again.” If you can relate, I’m here to help! 

Q: How important is preventative healthcare? 

 Extremely important! While many people will wait until after they feel unwell to book an appointment with me, you can (and should) make your health a priority before persistent issues arise. I can develop a healthy lifestyle plan for you that includes the foods you love and the exercises you enjoy so you can beat health issues to the punch!
